Sunday River

Sunday River is the place to ski! I was out east for the past 10 days and wow, what an amazing trip. There aren't many places in the world where you can ski in the rain, on sugar snow, and have 13 inches of powder all in the same week. I was highly impressed by the Eastern mountains and what difficult training opportunities they provide.

During the first part of the week I was frustrated with the conditions and disappointed in how I was skiing. Now the week is over and I think that overall I learned a lot. Sometimes when you want something so badly, it's easy to forget that you have to fail once in a while in order to make gains and succeed.

I trained the entire month of November and I would say that this past week in Maine was the most productive. I may not have skied my best but spending a week on unreliable conditions is going to give me the mental confidence and physical strength to be ready for the first race on December 17th and 18th.

If you get the chance stop by Nubs Nob in Michigan to watch the first Mid-Am! December 17th and 18th!

Bye bye Vail!

It's been a great week of training in Vail. I am LOVING my Volkl GS skis! It's also been great to see Ted Ligety, Bode Miller, Axel Svindal, Sarah Schleper, And Lindsey Vonn out on the hill! Training next to the best in world is both inspiring and motivating. I love it.

The conditions at Vail are pristine and the sunny blue skies aren't so bad either! I apologize for the lack of photography but if you just imagine clear skies, warm (at least for winter) weather, hero snow and some great people in some odd looking spyder suits than I'm sure you're mind will create the perfect picture! Headed home tomorrow:(

I'm sad to leave but happy to have a few days at home. I'll be in Maine in a week so keep checking for photos of beautiful Sunday River!!!

Skiing, Snow, and Sun: Just A Few of My Favorite Things

It's my third day here in Colorado and the skiing is getting better and better everyday. After resolving a few issues with my boots last night I had a great day on the hill today. There was 6 inches of fresh powder and the sun was shinning all day. I don't think I could ask for more!

An important thing to keep in mind during the start of the season, especially is how much free skiing you need to be doing. That is why for the first five days at Loveland 75% of our skiing has been drills and free runs. In order to get yourself ready for skiing in gates you need to prepare!

Also while being in the mountains I've kept a water bottle on me at ALL times! Hydration is the key to success out here. If you forget to drink water you're going to pay the price later when you have a headache and no energy. So remember always hydrate!!

Finally I just wanted to say that most importantly I've been having a blast out here! Team Central is a great group and I look forward to seeing these athletes and coaches at competitions this season.

Remember ski fast, always!
